Winter WonFes ’17: Be the Ultimate Husbando with Life-Size Erza Scarlet

1/1 Scale Erza Scarlet by Figurex

This year’s Winter Wonder Festival (WonFes) is almost over, and I can’t help but feel nostalgic about the good old days when new figure announcements used to leave us excited (and our wallets crying). But with the show’s year-long hiatus, I already expected the figure drought for Fairy Tail will continue.

Well, this proves to be true, except for the life-size Erza Scarlet announced this event. Aside from that, there hasn’t been much to look forward to this season.

Speaking of which, this WonFes we learned the existence of a scaled Erza from an unheard company called Figurex. This almost got me excited, not until I learned it was a 1/1 scale or a life-size figure. And being life-size, it only means insane price, costing over a million yen.

Since my wallet is not really a fan of huge figures (and insane prices), I’d have to pass on this one. However, if you are Titania’s ultimate husbando, then getting this a must. Time to show your love for Fairy Tail’s strongest female wizard.

HQF Laxus, Mirajane unveiled at TFD4; new Fairy Tail figure lines revealed

[UPDATE: Added closer images for the SC line]

If last year’s Tsume Fan Days (TFD) disappointed fans with the lack of new Fairy Tail figures, this year’s annual celebration went all out as they revealed not only one, not two, but six new figures from the series, September 10-11.

On the second day of Tsume Fan Days 4, the Luxembourg-based company wowed fans with their announcement of a fully painted HQF Laxus Dreyar and the prototype of HQF Mirajane Strauss.

Looking fierce and badass, the new HQF Laxus figure is on the attack mode, ready to fry his enemies while sparks of lightning surround him. The dynamic pose is seemingly based on the battle between the lightning dragonslayer and Wizard Saint Jura Neekis during the Grand Magic Games arc.

Everything looks perfect on this figure, except the name engraved on his base plate which spelled “Luxus.” This is probably derived from his European name translation, which is a really minor thing to whine about.

On the other hand, a WIP prototype of Demon Mirajane was also revealed during TFD4. The HQF prototype shows Mira in her Satan Soul form, ready to blast her enemies with her Soul Extinctor.

With this move of Tsume, it gives us Fairy Tail fans a ray of hope to collect more of our favorite guild members. However, as much as I want to hug Tsume for these additions, these only make me want to have a v2.0 of their previously released HQF more. Natsu Dragneel, Gajeel Redfox, and Erza Scarlet would definitely look inferior with Gray Fullbuster, Lucy Heartfilia, Laxus, and Mirajane standing next to them.

Moreover, a new figure line was also revealed during the event, dubbed as the Fairy Tail SC line. This line is actually the “cheaper” line Tsume teased last year.

The new line includes a fully painted figures of the original Team Natsu, including Natsu himself, Lucy, Gray, and Erza. While this is a great addition to our collection, I certainly hope they would at least include Happy in the line. Team Natsu would not be complete without the series mascot.

In line with this, Tsume also surprised fans with their new Fairy Tail HQS Plus announcement last week. In a video posted on their official Facebook page, Tsume artist Giorgia was shown sketching Salamander while CEO Cyril Marchiol writes the words “HQS+ Coming 2017”.

While no confirmation yet on which character will be made for the Fairy Tail HQS Plus line, sources said the company is planning to make the three first generation dragonslayers namely Natsu, Wendy Marvel, and Gajeel with their dragon parents Igneel, Grandine, and Metallicana respectively. Whether these information are credible or not, the new HQS Plus line is something Fairy Tail figure collectors should ultimately look forward to, given the superb quality of the previous statues Tsume released.

Summer WonFes ’16: Orca Toys reveals Black Cat Gravure Style Erza Scarlet

Just when we thought Summer Wonder Festival (WonFes) 2016 would end without seeing a single Fairy Tail figure, Orca Toys’ Black Cat Gravure Style Erza Scarlet came showing up. While this is not much of a news to me, it is better than nothing, right?

The new announcement is  a variant of the previously announced 1/6 White Cat Gravure Style Erza. It features the same sculpt but with a black swimsuit and a red sword sheath. Personally, I prefer the white version since it seems less suggestive than the black. But either way, I would not be getting any of them unless I have extra cash, which I do not have.

We could have hoped for more in this WonFes, but since the anime is on hiatus, the lack of Fairy Tail figures is expected. Hopefully next WonFes, we get to see more of our beloved fairies (and please, no more swimsuits).

Pre-order date, release date, and price are yet to be announced, so stay tuned.

UPDATE: MegaHouse G.E.M. Motomiya Daisuke, Veemon prototype revealed; Katou Juri, Leomon unveiled

MegaHouse did not only bring us one, but we will have two new figures to look forward to in our display cabs. This is because MegaHouse revealed two additional casts for their Digimon line during the Digimon Adventure Festival (DigiFes) 2016 held last Sunday.

The much awaited prototype of MegaHouse G.E.M. Motomiya Daisuke, Veemon was finally revealed after a few months since its announcement. The fully painted figure shows Daisuke in a nice post, enthusiastically piggybacking Veemon.

Daisuke with Veemon pre-orders is set to open this August. No price and release date announced yet, but we can expect it as another limited and shop exclusive set, following the previous figures in the Digimon line.

On the other hand, the prototype of MegaHouse G.E.M. Katou Juri, Leomon also caught the fans off-guard. The announcement was quite unexpected, since many believed that if ever another Tamers cast will be added, it will be Jianliang Lee with Terriermon. But still, the Juri and Leomon duo is a good addition to the Tamers line.

With the revelation of Juri and Leomon, we just hope the other tamers will also join the previously announced Takato with Guilmon, Ruki with Renamon, and Beelzebumon with Impmon.
