X-Plus teases 1/8 Juvia Loxar re-release

When news of the upcoming season finale of the Fairy Tail anime broke all over the virtual world, I kind of prepared myself for the possibility of another hiatus. This could only mean that there will be less chance of getting new figures from the series in the next few months. But here we are, seeing a new announcement, although not exactly a new figure to get your hopes up with.

X-Plus is yet again on the move to increase their never-ending swimsuit line, this time going for a re-release of the 1/8 Juvia Loxar swimsuit version. *Yay, another swimsuit version. Great.*

Details about the figure is yet to be announced, but following the previous moves of the said company, it can only mean a few things: it can be an exact re-release of the original Juvia, an exclusive variant with a repaint on the swimsuit, or if they are being generous, another suntan version. But I highly doubt the first case.

I certainly hoped for a new 1/7 swimsuit figure to go with Lucy and Yukino at the very least, but I guess it will come eventually *crossing my fingers*. Whatever the case, please stay tuned for more details!

X-Plus previews painted 1/7 Lucy Heartfilia

The painted 1/7 Lucy Heartfilia from X-Plus is finally out, but it’s not as impressive as we expected it to be.

Lucy in yet another swimsuit attire has made its debut at the Miyazawa Model Expo Fall 2015. She is sporting a white two-piece bikini with a heart-print design. She is also holding a golden key, which is a nice addition to this figure.

Personally, I was quite looking forward to this figure since its announcement last Summer Wonder Festival, but unfortunately it doesn’t live up to my expectation. Nothing about the figure screams “I am a must buy!”, except the fact that it is a 1/7 scale and is poseable along with the 1/7 Yukino Aguria. And compared to the previous swimsuit versions from X-Plus, it doesn’t really stand out.

In addition to the disappointment, the face looks a bit off somehow. It’s not any better than the Gigantic Lucy, which I think is the most decent face sculpt among their releases. But for fairness’ sake, let’s just assume that it was just the shot’s angle and hope to see some convincing improvements once the official promo shots are out.

Furthermore, the said company is pulling the same trick it has pulled on their previous releases: Lucy will come in two versions (a standard and exclusive variant). I hope the exclusive will do much to win us over, because I think Yukino will be an irresistible force in the near future.

No news about pre-orders yet but Lucy is slated for a January 2016 release.

X-Plus Gigantic Lucy Heartfilia comes with 2 variations

Fairy Tail - Lucy Heartfilia - Gigantic Series (X-Plus)

The horror of exclusives has befallen on X-Plus’ Gigantic Series Lucy Heartfilia.

As we have feared during its announcement on the last Winter WonFes, this 1/4 scale figure will have 2 versions: a standard (pink) and an exclusive (floral) one.

We have seen the standard version in its full glory last time, and is slated for a May 2015 release for ¥15000. And as I pointed out before, it would be wise if you’ll get the exclusive version instead. It is more faithful to the anime than the standard, plus it has the same price and an extra good coming along.

The exclusive version will only be available on X-Plus Rakuten and pre-orders are open from February 27 to March 25 only. Aside from the different swimsuit color/paint, it comes with a limited Eco tote bag. (Yeah, really nice)

I really love the exclusive version since it looks pretty spot on with the character, although the paint on the bikini is a little shiny. It might have been better if it has the fabric feel visually. Nevertheless, I say this is a must buy for serious Fairy Tail collectors.

Winter WonFes ’15: X-Plus announces Gigantic Lucy Heartfilia

Fairy Tail - Lucy Heartfilia - Gigantic Series - Swimsuit ver. (X-Plus)

The much awaited event since 2015 started has finally ended, and to our dismay, there has been a scarcity of Fairy Tail figures as it concluded.

Unlike last year’s Winter WonFes rich with Fairy Tail goodies, only a single figure has made it to the display this year, and to rub salt in the wound, it’s another Lucy Heartfilia swimsuit version from X-Plus. However it’s a different scale, a 1/4 from their Gigantic Series.

A variant of the prepainted figure also seems to taunt fans with the possibility of being exclusive. The poster shows Lucy in her white bikini which we have seen on the anime. Honestly, who would want the pink bikini version if we can have the canon one? Well maybe some hardcore collectors would.

Fairy Tail - Lucy Heartfilia - Gigantic Series - Swimsuit ver. (X-Plus)

I don’t hate Lucy, in fact she’s one of my waifus from the series, and it’s not really bad to have another figure of her. But considering the wide variety of characters to make, X-Plus could have opt to continue with the other characters on either their 1/8 swimsuit version or the much wanted battle version. I think fans would love to see more of the ladies on their fighting stance than a freaking giant version in swimsuit. I’m hoping they are still working on that and just happens to finish this figure in time for the event.

On the bright side, the new figure seems way better than previous version. The face looks more accurate to the anime, and this might be a good news for those who would want to make a shrine for Lucy (I do).

Lucy Heartfilia Gigantic Sersies Swimsuit version is slated for a May 2015 release with a price of ¥15000.
